The 2008 Waste News Environmental Awards
Waste News is seeking nominations for its 2008 Environmental Awards.
As in the past, awards will be given in two categories, Corporate and Government.
The Corporate Award recognizes a company that has made significant environmental strides in its business operations.
The Government Award recognizes a public entity that has fostered environmental progress through programs, laws and other governmental initiatives.
Please fill out the nomination form below. Nominations are due Friday, Nov. 7. Self-nominations are welcome. Waste News' editors will judge the nominations and consider other worthy companies and governmental bodies before choosing the winners.
Stories profiling the winners will appear in the Nov. 24 issue of Waste News.

Award Criteria
- The awards will recognize one company and one government entity for environmental initiatives undertaken in calendar year 2008.
- Environmental initiatives can take one or many forms.
- Initiatives can deal with one or multiple waste streams — i.e., solid waste, hazardous waste, water, air.
- For the Corporate category, any publicly traded or privately owned business is eligible, regardless of size. Similarly, for the Government category, any public entity is eligible, regardless of size.
Support Material
Please include as much information about the nominee as possible. Examples of support material that may be submitted:
- A description of how the company's or governmental body's initiatives have impacted the environment.
- A description of the company's or governmental body's environmental vision.
- A list of environmental goals the company or governmental body has set or exceeded.
- For nominees in the Corporate category, annual company revenue as well as the amount the company invested in its 2008 environmental initiatives. For nominees in the Government category, annual budgetary information related to the nominee's environmental programs.
- For nominees in the Corporate category, a link to the company's latest sustainability report. For nominees in the Government category, a link to the public entity's Web site.
- A list of corporate or governmental partners, if any, and a description of how they assisted with the nominee's environmental programs.
